Ashburton.— At the invitation of Mr Bullock a large number of the inhabitants of ■his township assembled on Saturday last to celebrate the opening of his new auction room. A capital luncheon was placed on the table by Mr Shearman in his usual liberal style. The various loyal and local toasts ■vere then proposed and duly responded to, the health of Mr Bullock and success to his undertaking being especially received with >rolonged cheering. The building, which is an ornament to the town, was built by Mr St Hill from designs by Mr Jacobson, the dimensions over all being eighty-three by ■ wenty nine feet. The want of a medium for the regular disposal of produce has long o>m felt here, and it is to be hoped Mj Bullock will meet with the encouragement he deserves for his spirited enterprise,
