Christchurch School Committee that the late Provincial Government, in deference to the wishes of the deputation from yourselves and the School Committee, have instructed the Rate Collector only to collect a rate of 6d in the £ instead of 1 Id. As I understand the wishes of the ratepayers, as expressed at the public meeting, this will fall in with their views. Such being the case, I have not thought it desirable to convene another meeting. Should, however, the ratepayers desire a meeting to be called, I shall have much pleasure in acceding to their wishes, signified to me by way of requisition.
