MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, November 7. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq, R.M.J Drunk and Disorderly.— Three inebriates, who appeared for the first time, were each fined 5s ; Wm Joyant, for being drunk and using abusive language, was fined 10s. Vagrancy. —John Williams, a colored man, who had been discharged a few days before, on the understanding that he was going to the Pomahawk to look for work, was again brought up, as he had, for the second time, been found loafing about Cashmere, and was sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labor. Assaults. —Henry Jordan, charged with assaulting Thomas Gallaghan, by striking him in his own house, was fined 40s ; Neil McPhee, summoned for assaulting Mary McPhee, did not appear when called, and his Worship ordered a warrant to be issued or his apprehension.
