WEATHER OBSERVATIONS FOR OCTOBER. 1876.
[By Nelson H. Cherrill, Christchurch.] Barometer—Highest, 30.63 on 7th; lowest, 29.45 on 3 1 st. Thermometer Highest (Jay temperature in shade, 82$ on 22nd ; lowest dAy reading, 60deg on 3rd; highest night reading, 53$ on 22nd; lowest night,.Sljfeg on ,15th. The temperature has been d&W'to.'ferHteloW,lf rfeezing point oh three nights, viz. on the 2nd, ISthpnd.lfith, The greatest range between day and night was on the 6th, when the day temperature was 78deg and the night 33deg, giving a range of 45deg. Rain has fallen on four, days during the month continuously on the 13th, when it registered 0 4in ; there was slight rain on the I,7th, 19th and 23rd, the total rainfall lor the month amounting to about 0.68 in, besides these four days there was one overcast with mist, five variable cloud and sunshine, aifd twenty* on q clear fine days. ;/ •. - i
