October 25—Quiver, ketch, 19 tons, Smith, for Leßon's Bay. The favorite s.s. Wellington, Captain Lloyd, arrived this morning at 9 a.m, and was berthed .at the Gladstone Pier. She sails for Port Chalmers this afternoon. The Island City, barque, from Newcastle, arrived last night, and was towed in by the p.s. Titan. WRECK OF THE ORETI BRIGANTINE. This fine brigantine was lost on the White Bocks at the entrance of Cook's Straits. As the Wellington was proceeding from Nelson to Picton on Monday last, she observed a vessel ashore on the White Bocks off Cape Koomooroo, at the entrance of Cook's Straits. Captain Lloyd at once steamed down to the vessel, with the idea of rescuing the crew should they be on the rocks. Arriving close to the rocks found it was the Oreti brigantine ; she had been deserted by her crew. The foresail had been stowed, but the topsail and topgallant sail were flying loose. The Oreti was from the Bound with a cargo of timber for Wellington. Her deck was not started and the anchors were on her bows, but as it was low water could not attempt to tow her off. The Wellington then left the vessel and steamed to Picton, where she found the crew, which went on in her to Wellington. From the captain's statement, it appears the vessel went ashore last Saturday night in thick weather.
