The B.s. Taupo arrived from the North at 7.30 a.m. to-day. She sailed South at 1 p.m. The s.s. Arawata arrived from Port Chalmers at 7.50 a.m., after a splendid passage from wharf to wharf of fourteen hours and twenty minutes. She sails for Wellington this afternoon. RECOVERY OF THE LADY JOCELTN'S CABLE. H.M.C. steam launch was proceeding to the B.M.&S. Australia yesterday, which was on the point of sailing, and on arrival, just as the big steamer was heaving up her anchor, it was discovered that it was foul of a large cable supposed to be the missing one belonging to the Lady Jocelyn, so long unsuccessfully sought. The steam launch went up to the cable, which was raised above water by the Australia's anchor, passed a line round it, and set a buoy. Captain Cargill then lowered a line, with buoy attached, sufficiently strong to lift the cable right up. After this the launch towed away the lines and buoys clear of the big steamer's fans, so that she could swing. No doubt prompt measures will be taken to recover the cable, which does not seem to have suffered from its long immersion.
