AMUSEMENTS.

LYDIA HOWARDS BURLESQUE

TROUPE.

There was a fair attendance last evening at the Music Hall, when “ Girofle-Girofla” was again repeated. This evening there will be a change of programme, commencing with a grand concert, in which Herr Schott will again take part, and play some of his celebrated oboe solos. Misses Howarde, Navaro, and Nye will also contribute their best selections of vocal music, whilst Messrs Cary and Alexander will also sing some of their wellknown and favorite songs. During the concert Miss Howarde will introduce Bishop’s “ Lo ! here the gentle lark I ” and also take part in a duet with Mr Cary. The concert will terminate with the chorus “ Moses in Egypt” by the company. The entertainment will conclude with the operatic burlesque “ The Inn of Terracina.” Friday next is set apart as a benefit night to Mr H. F. Towle, for which a capital programme has been provided, and considering the very high estimation in which this gentleman is held, we anticipate a crowded house on the occasion. On Monday next Mr George Darrell’s new play, entitled “Transported for Life,” will be performed at the Hall, when Mr and Mrs Darrell will make their reappearance for a few nights. The piece has had a very successful run in the other provinces, and should command good houses in Christchurch, as Mr Darrell’s efforts as a colonial dramatist are highly esteemed.
