At the Synod, to-day, Archdeacon Harper, of Timaru, and Rev E. 0. Stewart, of Sydney, were nominated to the vacant Bishopric of Waiapu. The choice fell on Archdeacon Harper, who is elected if he will accept the nomination. Greymouth, October 3. The Kurnara limes cautions miners against coming there unless possessed of mefins to stand three months, as it takes that time after striking gold before tunnels can go in. About 2000 miners are now supposed to be on gold, but the place is being overdone by business people and miners. The Kennedy and Charles Edward arrived last night loaded with miners for the Kurnara. Dunedin, October 2. The Supreme Court opened to day. The chief offences were forgery, house-breaking, bestiality, and criminal libel. Nothing important was done today. No true bill was returned in the libel case Bishop Moran against the Evening Star.
