WEATHER REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER.
[Observed at Christchurch by Nelson K. Cherrill.] Highest temperature in the shade, 73 deg (22nd) Lowest, at night, 28 deg, on the 6th, 7th, 9th, and 24th , Greatest range in twenty-four hours, between 9th and 10th, 44 deg t „ Greatest sudden change, on the sth, when it tell 26 deg in three hours, standing at 68 deg at 1 p.m., and at 42 deg at 4 p.m. Heavy gale on the night of the 21st, which affected temperatures thus—On the 19th the day temperature was 53 deg, on the 20th 58 deg, on the 21st 60 deg, on the 22nd 73 deg, on the 23rd 61 deg, and on the 24th 51 deg, the lowest day temperature of the month. The barometer fell during the gale from 30.35 on 21st to 29.6 on the 22nd; it then rose till the 25th, when it stood at 30,5, the highest during the month. . , ~ , There has been frost on eleven nights, the highest night temperatures were on the 12th and 17th, when it did not go below 42 deg. There has been—lß clear fine days 5 overcast, without rain 3 rain all day 4 various or changeable.
