HORSE PARADE, RANGIORA.

Yesterday the annual stud horse parade in connection with the Northern Agricul-. tural and Pastoral Association was held in a paddock at Rangiora, near Roberts’ Club Hotel, on the Ashley road. The weather was fine, and the attendance of visitors was greater than last year. the num her of horses entered was thirty-two, three of them, viz—Mr Duffell’s Pretender, ard Mr R. Pearson’s B’armer and Sunlight, did not put in appearance, the latter two owing to some mistake. The number of entries last year was twenty-two, and the addition this year was made up by recent importations ; but looking round, the old horses were seen to have come out in good force. The display was very good, and all the animals were in fine condition. The committee of management were Messrs W. McGregor, J. Stevenson, B. Mulcock, J. Smart, and W. A. Burt. All the arrangements were good. Each exhibit was placed at a number, and all of them ranged at good distances round the field ; the draught stock along two sides and the blood stock and ponies along the other side, Every one was able to inspect the stock conveniently, with the assistance of a numbered catalogue provided by the committee at a cost of one shilling, including the fee for admission to the ground. During the morning the horses were exhibited in the ring, and were generally remarked on as being a very superior lot, the majority displaying fine symmetry and muscular action. The amount taken at the gates amounted to about £ls.
