Sept 16-Ladybird, s.s, 286 tons, from Port Chalmers and Akaroa. Sept 15—Kestrel, ketch, 20 tons, Butter, from Mcintosh Bay. Bept 15—Minnie, ketch, 17 tons, Marquet, from Decanter Bay. . Sept 15—Quiver, ketch, 19 tons, Smith, from Leßon's Bay. CLEARED. Sept 16—Beautiful Star, 5.8., 146 tons, Pietersen, for Port Chalmers, via Timaru. Sept 16—Kenilworth, brigantine, 113 tons, Short, for Auckland. Sept 16—Especulador, barque, 262 tons, Powell, for Newcastle, N.S.W. The fl.s. Ladybird, from Port Chalmers and Akaroa, arrived in harbour at 1 p.m. today. She sails North to-morrow morning. THE HINEMOA. An Enelish telegram says the Hinemoa sailed ft™ Sow on 3uly Bth' for Wellington The Hinemoa is one of the new steamers for our Government, the plans of which were sent home some time ace She is intended to supersede the Luna. &imensionVare given as2loft by 25ft by 15*ft, and her engines are of 150 horse-power. She may be expected in New Zealand about the end of this month. THE CITY OF SYDNEY. The K.M.S.S. City of Sydney, Captain John McDow, arrived yesterday morning at 7.30 a.m. She is exactly like her sister boats, the City of New York and City of San Francisco, possessing, like them splendid accommodation. The vessel was tendered by Messrs Agar and Roberts* steam-launch Lvttelton, by whom the mails and passengers were brought ashore. After about an hour's detention the big mail-boat steamed South. The following is the captain's report:--Left Sydney August 25th at 3.15 p.m. discharged pilot at 386 D m and arrived eff Kandavau on the 31st at alov m; entered port on the Ist September at 3 i>!m, discharged mails and passengers in the mailsteamer Zeafandia, which vessel left that port for San Francisco at 6 p.m same day; on 7th instant received mails and passengers from the company s steamer City of San Francisco, and left port same day at 1.35 p.m: the City of San Francisco left at same time for Sydney; amyedatAiwklandat4.3o a.m. on the 11th, received pilot at 10.36 a.m; discharged mails, passengers, and freight, and left azain on the 12th at 3.10 a.m; arrived off Napier on 13th at 1.40 p.m, and left same day at 3.30 p.m. reaching Wellington at 11-05 a.m. on 14th, leaving same day at 6.23, and arriving as above. The weather was fine from Sydney to Kandavau, off Kandavau it was thick and rainy, and the vessel was detained outside twenty-four hours fifty minutes; from Kandavau to Auckland fine, thence to Napier strong winds and high seas; rough weather prevailed from Napier to this port. ARRIVAL OF THE BARQUE VALLEJO FROM AUCKLAND. This barque, with part cargo from Liverpool, arrived vesterday morning at 7.30, and anchored off the breakwater. She is a handsome iron barque of 850 tons register, belonging to Workington. Her elass is Al, and she is about five years out to Ancklan3inl63days. "The vallejo is consigned to the New Zealand Shipping Company, and brings 400 tons cargo for this port. The Vallejo left Auckland wharf at noon on August 31st, but the wind being strong from the S.W., with showers of rain, anchored in Rangitoto channel. On Friday, Sept Ist, at 4 a.m, hove up anchor and got under weigh, the wind being light from N.W. At 3 p.m. Couvier Island was abeam, and a course was shaped for East Cape, the wind increasing to a gale. On the 2nd, at 7 a.m, abreast of East Cape, about twenty miles distant, but the weather was too hazy to sight it, and the wind increasing to a gale from W.S.W. the ship was layed to. On the 3rd the gale still continued, the wind hauling in the squalls to W.N. W. On the 4th the wind was lighter, and from the N.W, so the ship again made all possible sail, but the following day was again obliged to lay to. The gale increased in violence on the 6th. On the 7th, Bth, and 9th, the weather was moderate. On the llth sighted Looker-on Range on starboard bow. On the 12th there was a strong S.W. gale, which continued on 13th. The following day, at 8 p.m. sighted Godley light, bearing S.W. about twenty-eight miles distant. At 2 a.m. yesterday passed a brig standing north, and at 6 a.m. were abreast of the heads, when a pilot came aboard, arriving as above, after a stormy passage of thirteen dayb. The Vallejo will be berthed at the middle Wharf 0 discharge.

By 'the mall ;now to hand advices have been received of the arrivals of the following ships : Himalaya—Left Lyttelton 15ih April; arrived at Gravesend 24th July; passage, 100 days. Jessie Osborn-Left Lyttelton nth April; arrived at Queenstown on 16th July, after a passage of 87 days. Eangitiki-Left Lyttelton 22nd April; reported in the Channel on 10th July, after a passage of 78 The Merope left Gravesend for this port on July 27th.
