A CANTERBURY MAN IN ENGLAND.

We take the following from the N~er» Zealand Church News: —"lt is scarcely necessary to say that the reference in the following paragraph is to Archdeacon Dudley's third son, the RevH. T. Dudley, who received his education at Christ's College Grammar School, and afterwards at Queen's College, Oxford. It is interesting to see the son following in the father's steps : —' Vestry Meeting at St Mary's.—On Tuesday, a vestry meeting of the above parish was held in St Mary's schoolroom, the Rev Mr Dudley (in the unavoidable absence of the rector of St Mary's) in the chair. Mr William Wright was re-elected a lay representative, Mr D. M. Bull his coadjutor. The meeting was then changed into one of a more pleasurable character, as stated by Mr Averill, who presented the chairman with a purse containing £25, as an Easter offering, subscribed by the congregation of St Mary's, which he hoped the rev gentleman would accept, and trusted his ministerial services might be retained in the parish. The chairman said he accepted with grateful feelings and the utmost pleasure, the spontaneous gift of the congregation; that sinse his sojourn in Stafford he had met with much kindness from the people; that the gift would be a welcome benefit to him, but he felt far more grateful for the kind and generous feeling towards himself, which prompted the presentation; and on behalf of himself and wife he begged to thank the subscribers and presenter.'— The following respecting the same gentleman is from the Staffordshire Advertiser of June 24th :—• On Sunday evening, the Rev H. T. Dudley, curate of St Mary's, preached bis farewell sermon to a large congregation. We understand that an illuminated address and testimonial are to be presented to the rev gentleman by the parishioners, as a token of their appreciation of the active and diligent work which he has done in the parish and their great regret at his leaving. Mr Dudley is returning to his old parish of Sedgley.' "
