ASHBURRON BOARD OP HEALTH. A meeting of the Board was held at the Court House on Friday afternoon last. PresentMessrs Hunt, Bullock, "Williamson, and Grigg (chairman). Br Trevor waited on the Board, and directed attention to the immediate necessity of enforcing the use of eartb closets throughout the township, and of a more vigilant inspection of nuisances being enforced; he further advised the Board to use their best endeavors to have clause 20 of the present Health Act in force amended, in order that the same may apply to townships, such as Ashburton. It was resolved—" That a telegram be forwarded to the member for the district, requesting him to use his beat endeavors to have clause 20 of the Public Health Act, 1872, amended, to read—' That houses in towns having a population exceeding three hundred shall have earth cloaetß.'" The inspector of nuisances was instructed to make a careful inspection of the whole township previous to the next meeting of the Board, and have all manure heaps, pigsties, ashpits, &c, removed and cleansed.
