AMUSEMENTS.

THE LYDIA HOWARDE TROUPE. The Lydia Fowarde Troupe re-produced " II Trovatore" last night at the Music Hall to a fair audience—the reserved seats being much better patronised than on the previous evening. Miss Navaro enacted the part of Leonora with great energy and success, singing the music in the " Miserere " scene with fine effect, narrowly escaping an encore. Miss Nye, as Count di Luna, was in exceedingly fine voice, and sang and acted admirably, receiving a most enthusiastic encore for her artistic dancing. Mr Towle, as Manrico, also played and sang exceedingly well throughout, as did Mr Herberte, as the Kinchin j the other characters were fairly enacted, and the piece went well throughout. "The Two Gregorys," in which Misses Nye and Ashton, and Messrs Hill and Power took part, terminated the programme. To-night that choice and lively gem of burlesque, " Trial by Jury" and " II Trovatore" will be re-produced, and as the former is undoubtedly the best production yet given by the company, we anticipate a full house. lima de Murska will appear on Friday (not on Thursday as formerly announced), in her choice operatic scenes, and we feel certain that she will receive the full support of the Christchurch people.
