AMUSEMENTS.
THE LYDIA HOWARDS TROUPE.
Mr Power’s benefit last night drew a splendid house. The first part of the programme consisted of a (Jhristy Minstrel performance by the members of the troupe, assisted by Mr Wallace. The minstrelsy was a very fair represention of the “ burnt cork” business, considering that the company do not go in for nigger melodies as a rule. But we do not class Mr Wallace’s performances with those of the troupe, as his forte is decidedly nigger business. Mr Wallace's dancing was loudly applauded and redemandcd, a request readily complied with by that gentleman. “Kenilworth’' succeeded the concert, and was played exceedingly well throughout, the music being wdl rendered, and enthusiastic encores were the order of the evening during the performance of the burlesque, which seemed to please the audience exceedingly. “Kenilworth” will be repeated this evening. The management have several new burlesques in hand, amongst which, the first to be produced will be the great extravaganza of “ Girofte* Girofla.”
