Timaru, August 13, The meet of the Canterbury Hunt Club near Timaru on Saturday afternoon, afforded great pleasure. The attendance was numerous, but there would have been many more people present if the weather had been fine, a cold stiff sou’-weaterprevailing, accompanied at times by showers of rain and hail. The country, which was very hilly, was good, the jumps being stiff. Between thirty and forty horsemen followed the hounds, which worked splendidly throughout. In the absence of Mr Cardale Mr F. H. Moore acted as master. The meet at Pleasant Point takes place to-morrow, and the last one of the season in this district will be held near Timaru on Saturday next.
