New Plymouth, August 11, The petition in favour of Sunday trains, and reflecting upon the action of the Sunday Observance Committee, has induced a second petition to be forwarded, signed by a larger number of persons, supporting the committee’s memorial, and praying for the discontinuace of the Sunday trains. Referring to the report of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Argvs congratulates this company on the undoubted success of the company's undertakings, notwithstanding its having had to contend against powerful adverse influences at borne, and some provincial jealousies in the colony. It says the company should be looked upon as something more than a mere moneymaking association, and points to the importance of the intention of the company to take apprentices from colonial youths, and thereby ultimately officering their fleet from the colony.
