The entries for the Australian Jockey Club Autumn Meeting are unsatisfactory. Kingsborough has been scratched for the Metropolitan. Melbourne, August 9. There is no chance of a vote of censure being carried in leference to the collision between the Barrabool and the Queensland. The evidence points to the carelessness of the former as having been the cause of the accident. Arrived—Hero.
INTERPROVINCIAL.
Auckland, August 9. Nine of the crew of the Olanthorpe have been arrested for disobedience and broaching cargo, Lucifer matches scattered about the hold showed that the men had used naked lights there. The case has been remanded. Wellington, August 10. Telegrams were received by the Premier last evening from Messrs Sims and Taylor, the gentlemen in charge of the cable repairing steamer Edinburgh. It is dated yesterday, and states—“ The Edinburgh has returned to Port Darwin, repaired cable breaks on the hard bottom on the Sahut bank. Have put down a heavier cable over this bank. The Batavia and Singapore section was repaired on the 25th of July.” Dunedin, August 10. The house of Donnelly, the burglar, who was captured yesterday, has been searched, and a complete set of house-breaking tools, wigs, and disguises found, also two loaded pistols. He attended Sunday school on Sunday, and in the evening broke into and robbed two premises.
