ANOTHER AIRING.
Sir, — I was very much pleased on reading to night’s Globe with the plain way in which you exposed the want of energy displayed by the City Council in dealing with the footpaths in the city. Instead of extending operations and putting on more men, one work is stopped altogether. Now the question which forces itself on my mind (as an outsider) is, when will the outskirts be attended to if this is how they grapple with the difficulty ? Take for instance the South belt, on which it is my lot to reside, when will that be done? This part of the city has been so long neglected that it seems an insult to send us tax-papers. We want a fat, short winded councillor to reside in this neighborhood, who would have to pass over or through the mass of filth that now covers what, in courtesy, we call a footpath ; it would then, at least, be a subject of talk in the City Council. I am, &c., LONG-SUFFERER. August Ist.
