CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, July 18. (Before G. L. Hellish, Esq, R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly.— An inebriate, who made his first appearance before the Bench, was fined ss. Allen Jordan, an old offender, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor. Obtaining Goods by False Pretences. —Thomas Powell, who had been arrested on the charge of obtaining goods by false pretences from W. Young, Lyttelton, was remanded to Port, to be brought up there on the 19th inst. LYTTELTON. Tuesday, July 18. ["Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M., and F. D. Gibson, Esq., J.P.] Cattle Trespass. —James Matthews, for this offence, was fined ss, and costs 4s. J. Oldfield and W. Cowlin were also fined a similar sura each. Registration of Births and Deaths Act. —O. A. Rich, for neglecting to register the birth of a child within six months, was fined 5s and costs. Slaughter house License. —The adjourned application cf Messrs Garforth and Lee, for a renewal of their slaughter-house license, was granted.
