The schooner Minehaha arrived last evening with * cargo of timber from the Thames for Mr J. B. Way“ She will be berthed at Peacock’s Wharf today. The achooner Maggie Paterson left Auckland on July 4th for the Kaipara, to load with timber for Timaru. The schooner Elizabeth Conway hence arrived fct Napier on the 4th. She left here on the Ist instant. The fine brigantine Oceola, for Adelaide, cleared the Customs yesterday, produce laden. She sails Immediately. The barque Hadda, and brig Star of Mersey, have entered out for Newcastle. They will leave fcarly. Captain Gibson, the representative of Messrs Duthie and Watt, has arrived from Wanganui to take charge of the s.s. Clyde, which has been sold to the above firm. This useful little steamer has done good work here, and we hope will meet with good luck under her present owners. She is to be employed running between Wanganui and Patea.
The s.s. Matau, Captain Urquhart, arrived in harbor for the second time at 9.30 p ra. on Monday Sight, and was berthed ht No 1 Wharf. MrColnett, the purser, informs us that she left Wellington on Sunday evening at 8.30 p.m, passed Cape Campbell light at lam on Monday; arrived at Ivailcouras at 7a.nl, landed mail, cargo, and passengers, and left again at 11.45 a.ra; passed the Heads at 8.30 p.m, and arrived as above. Took on board cargo for North, and sailed last night at 8 p.m. The s.s. Phoebe, Captain H. J. C. Andrew, left the Manukau at 8 a m on the (sth, and arrived at New Flymoutli at 3 a.ra on the 7th; left again at 6 a.m, and readied Nelson at 9 o’clock same night; sailed at 9 a.m on the Bth, and arrived at Pictou at 0 p.m; left at midnight, and arrived here at 7 a.m on the 9th. Experienced fresh southerly winds to Taranaki, thence to Wellington light winds from the same quarter, with calm weather. Left Wellington at 3.30 p.m on the 10th, and arrived here at 10 45 a.m yesterday, being berthed at the Gladstone pier to discharge. She brought 69 Immigrants, ex Camperdown, for Christchurch. Sailed South at 3.30 p.m yesterday. The J, G. Coleson, brigantine, Captain Brown, arrived yesterday. Reports leaving Picton on J uly 3rd, in company with the Reliance, for Oamaru ; experienced light northerly winds, and brought up In Tory Channel. leaving again at noon on the stii; thence light northerly winds till arrival in harbor yesterday morning at 11.15 a.m. The J. O. Coleson brings a cargo of timber consigned to J. B. W T ay. The schooner Peri and ketch Blackwall were loading at Picton for Lyttelton when Captain Brown left, and also the Herald for Timaru. The Planter, barque, has we hear arrived at the Bluff, and is discharging there. The barque Prince Alfred, Captain Dormant, arrived in harbor on the 10th at 11 p.m, and anchored off the breakwater. Her captain reports leaving the Mauritius on May lath with a fresh trade breeze, which lasted till the 24th, when a light westerly breeze sprang up, increasing in strength until June 16th, when the barque was oil Adelaide. A terrific gale from the N.W then struck the vessel, with heavy sea, and the skylight
was smashed in and other damage done. The gale >- lasted twenty-four hours, after which variable winds, principally westerly, prevailed till Cape Farewell, which was sighted on July 3rd; thence light westerly airs and cairns to arrival. There was no sign of the Medora at Port Louis when the Prince Alfred left, though she was then 104 days out from Newcastle, and there was no other vessel on the berth for New Zealand. The Prince Alfred brings a cargo of 200 toss sugar, She will be berthed at in) I Wbirt to day,
