An Ipswich, Mass, man is determined to foressall the fire-fiend. "He lives in a house with only one pair of stairs, and every Tuesday night at twelve he cries ' fire,' at which his wife and children quickly rise and dress. He then takes put a window sash, puts a rope round his wife and lowers her to the ground, then throws into her arms one child at a time. He puts his furniture into the street, and removes it to a place of safety. The whole time occupied is less than fifteen minutes, and he hopes to do it in ten."
