MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, July 5. (Before G-. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M., and Hon Ernest Gray, J.P.) Lunacy from Drink.—James Francis, who was suffering from the effects of drink, was remanded to Lyttelton for eight days. Drunk and Fighting-.—Edward Thomas, charged with being drunk and fighting in Manchester street, was fined 10s. Drunk and Disorderly.—An inebriate, who appeared for the first time, was fined ss. Hugh Butler, who had been arrested for creating a disturbance in Uncle Tom's dining rooms, striking the arresting constable, and breaking a pane of glass iu Mr Hughes' shop window, High street, was fined 20s, and ordered to pay £1 15s, value of the glass. Anne Murray, an old offender, charged with drunkenness, was fined 20s and cab hire. Drunk and Obstructing the Police. — Patrick Dowd, charged with being drunk, obstructing the constable who was arresting another man, breaking a pane of glass in the window of Uncle Tom's dining rooms, and also damaging the constable's lantern, was fined 10s, and ordered to pay 12s, value of property destroyed by him.
