Winteb Evening Reading^.—One of these entertainments was given at the Colonists' Hall, Lyttelton, on Friday evening last. It was well attended, and consisted of the usual mixture of music and readings The most noticeable item was the " Cascade," beautifully rendered on the piano by a lady. Prizes were given to Masters C. Willcox and J. Hobbs, for giving the two beat recitations for boys under fifteen. There were five com pelitoxs.
