Larceny from a Till.—John Carter, charged with stealing money from the till at Barrett's Hotel, was on the application of Inspector Feast remanded until the 6th instant.
Drunk and Disorderly.—Reuben Cook, who was still suffering from the effects of drink, was remanded to Lyttelton for eight days. Annie Wharton was fined 20s and cab hire. Three inebriates, who appeared before the Bench for the first time, were fined 5s each. Jacob Cox, for being drunk and breaking a pane of glass in Mr Bowden's shop window in Colombo street, was fined 10s and 13s 6d value of the glass. Daniel Lalor, who had appeared before the Bench the previous day on a similar charge, and contended that it was the same drunk, was fined 20s. Anne Murray, who had been remanded for a week, was brought up, and having reoovered, was discharged. Drunk and Assaulting the Police.— George Budd and Sarah Budd were charged with being drunk at the railway station and assaulting the constable. The male prisoner had used very bad language on the platform, and while being arrested had kicked the policeman, being assisted in his efforts to get away by the female. Subsequently he damaged a constable's trousers to the extent of 15s. Budd was fined £1 7s (including damage and cab hire), and his wife ss.
