Easby, at 11.35 Jp.m ; late letters, 11.55 p.m; railway station, 12.25 p.m, train. Saturday, July 1. Mails per Arawata will close as under : For Continent of Europe, via France, Italy, or Trieste, Point de Galle, India, China, and the East, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, Mediterranean ports, America, &c, &c, 12.30 p.m ; late letters, 1 p.m. For United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton, at 1 p.m,; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Australian Colonies and Otago, at 1 p.m.; late letters. 1.20 p.m. Posting newspapers and books at 12.30 p.m. Money orders and registered letters 12.30 p.m. Late letters for the mails per Arawata, can be posted in the Guard’s Van, at the Christchurch railway station, up to 2.30 p.m. Important—lt is suggested that all letters intended for transmission by the Suez route, should be secured by gum or wafers, the use of sealing-wax having been found to cause delay in separating letters, and in some instances to lead to addresses on envelopes being rendered illegible.
