LICENSING COURT.
(Before G. L. Hellish, Esq, Chairman, and G. L. Lee and H. J. Tailored, Fsqs, Commissioners.-) The adjourned sitting of the Licensing Court was held this morning. WINE AND BEER LICENSE. The, adj onrned application of J ohn Muniford for a wine and beer license at the corner of Madras street and South town belt, was called. His application had been adjourned to allow of the applicant showing what accommodation he intended to provide. Mr JWynn Williams, who appeared to support the application, produced plans of intended alterations and additions if the license were granted to his client. The chairman said that such a place was necessary in the neighbourhood, but it must be very carefully kept. The license would be granted. COUNTRY HOTEL LICENSE. Hubert Fenton, Heathcote Arms, Ferry road. The granting of the application had been deferred, to enable the applicant to state why he had not carried out the additions promised twelve months since. Mr Thomas, who appeared for Mr Fenton, produced plans of the contemplated additions to the hotel, and said the work had been delayed solely through his client’s title to the property being bad. This difficulty had now been overcome, and it .would be proceeded with at once. Application granted. LYTTELTON. Tueday, J une 20. (Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.) Assault Within View oe a Constai-lm. —William Gaffney was charged by C onstable Moutray with committing an assault upon William Baker, within his view, and fined 10s and costs.
