. The Customs revenue collected on Thursday Was as follows.

Potatoes are decidedly duller, and large parcels are difficult to dispose of at anything over £2. Dairy produce meets with a fair outside demand, and prices are Arm, butter at is 2d, cheese B£d. The new cure of boms and bacon arc now ready, and shipments made at 9d to 91d. Business in the import markets during the week has boon brisk. We have to record good trade sales in white crystal sugars at £l4 to £4u d.p. Yellow counters have shown activity at £2B to £ »n. ih. Teas have not been in sucli good demand. We have nothing but a few small trade sales to report. The demand for brandy is improving ; several sales of Henuessy’s and Martell’s bulk have been effected at 7s 9d; good second brands move Gif irei lv at 6s 3d to 6s (id. Rum and whisky have been dull of sale. Old tom has been forced oft - at low rates. In case goods we have to report a good demand for Hennessy’s brandy and Wolfe’s schnapps, the former realising 31s and the latter 22s 6d. Old tom is quitted at 14s 6d, i.b. Bottled ales, in quarts, move off slowly at current rates; pints are in request at 7s 3d to 7s 9d, d.p. Stouts— Stocks are low j sales have been made to arrive in Blood Wolfe’s at Us 3d to Us Od. A few small parcels of Guinness’ have been sold at lls 6d to 11 s 9d. Bass’ bulk liuds purchasers at £9los to £lO per hhds. Cornsacks—The consumption is falling off rapidly; prices remain as last quoted, 10s to 10s 6d for Dundee and Calcutta make. A large business has been done in fencing wires. Clearing sales have been made in Gospel Oak and Ryland’s brands at £l9 to £2O for Nos Bto 10; a large line of No 6 has been taken np at £'7. Cement-The demand for ordinary requirements is very poor at present, owing to large quantities being on the way, and now overdue. We have one or two sales to report at 19s per cask (to arrive). The tenders for 1000 casks for the South Waimakarirl District Board have been accepted at the following rates—soo barrels, delivered at Templeton railway station, at 19s lod per cask; and the balance delivered at the Bealey road station, at 20s 5d per cask, rates which must leave a very small mar jin, if any, to persons concerned.
