* The land sold at the Waste Lands Board on yesterday, amounted to 4258 acres, realising £1528, situate in the following districts:—

Melbourne—The " Argus" of the 22nd instant reports:—ln the import market this forenoon only a very moderate business was done. Routine sales ■were effected to an ordinary extent, but these buing in every case merely to execute trade orders, no special interest was created thereby. Breadstuffs are very Arm, and buyers are willing to purohase wheat to a fair extent, but there is still too little offering to admit of anything like largo parcels being quitted. Whatever is placed on the market, however, meets with a very ready sale. A. line of 600 bags, fair quality, was disposed of early in the foremoon'at 5s lOd, and another of 150 bags,! Western wheat, was taken up at 5s 10Jd, and 5s lid would not bow be refused for prime Northern. Flour, however, is quiet, and though there are tew if any sellers under £l2 5«, inquiries to-day have been most particularly 6lack. We have no sales of any description to refer to. Oats are very ■lew; feeding qualities are offering at 3s to Ss 3d for ordinary fine feeding, without drawing ont buyers to any extent; prime stout feeding are worth 3s 4d, and fine milling are saleable at 3s sd. Maize continues to harden, and 4s is now very generally required. Candles meet with fair attention. Trade parcels are still »oving off at lod to 10£d. Sugars are very firm at the improvement lately established. Business is limited to supplying actual wants, and as almost the whole of the cargo recently offering has been cleared out, it is not now likely that any special business will be carried through before the auction sale advertised lor Tuesday. For quicksilver there is no demand beyond what is necessary for the execution of mere trade orders, and for such lines we.cannet quote over 3s 2d to 3s 3d. Bice is quiet, and no large sales are effected. No business in Patna has been reported since the arrival of the Cingalese. In spirits nothing of interest has been allowed to transpire.
