MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTOHURCH. Friday, Mat 26. [B fore G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P.] Vagrancy.—James Shearer was charged with this offence. He was up on a similar charge about a month ago, but was then let off with a caution, the Magistrate informing him that if again caught in town he would be arrested. It appeared from the evidence that he returned to the city on the Queen's Birthday, and immediately commenced his old tricks. He was now sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. Drunk and Disorderly.—Henry Edwd. Wanby, for being drunk and disorderly, and breaking a pane of glass, was fined 10s, and ordered to pay the amount of damage, done, 14s. Daisy Comfort, an inveterate toper, who is always going to Wellington, but never goes, was sent to prison for six months. John Lane, was fined 20s, and 2s, the amount of the cab fare paid to convey him to the station ; and an inebriate for a first offence, was fined ss. Malicious Injury to Property.—Frank Egan, charged with maliciously breaking down one of the City Council notice boards from the tank in front of the White Hart Hotel, was fined 10s, and ordered to make good the damage, remarking that e might consider himself very fortunate at getting off so lightly.
