Messrs J, T. Ford aud Co report ou the live stock market for the week ending Friday, the 19th inst, as follows: At the yards on Wednesday 232 head of cattle and 5979 sheep were brought forward. Both sheep and cattle comprised some of the best quality that have ever graced the Addington Sale yards. Considering the large supply, stock moved off at very satisfactory prices, the sheep perhaps not equal to previous weeks'rales, but beef fully equal. Our sales for the day were on account of the Hons J. Hall, E. W. Stafford, Messrs Have on, Parker, Cook, Allen, Douglas, Keith jun, Keith gen, and others—viz, on account Hon J. Hall, 243 merinos, each 8s ; account Hon B. W. Stafford, 124 oross-breds, each 10s 9d; account Mr Haydon, 231 cross-breds, from los to 13s 3d each; account H. Parker, Esq, 55 cross-breds, each 9s. Privately we sold 1500 merino ewes, each 4s. In cattle we sold for W. Keith jun, 20 head, from £lO to £l2 each : on account Keith sen, we sold steers from £8 10s to £lO 6a each. On account of the Hon E. W. Stafford we sold steers at £lO each. Messrs H. Matson and Co report on the Live Stock Market, &c, for the week ending May 20th, as follows:—At the Addington Yards on Wednesday last 232 head of cattle and 5979 sheep were yarded for the week's supply. Our entries comprised 123 head of cattle, 4024 sheep, and 12 pigs, for the Hon J. T. Peacock, Messrs Wm. Miles, (xarforth, Richards, McMillan, James Hurse, Ward. H. "Whito, W. R. Maddison, Wm Henderson, Nunweek, W. Strachan, Baoon, Ferguson, Lane, Liu Bey. Mangles, Kenison, J. Taylor, Wright and Murray, ST Page, W. B. Clarkson, and Rer J. R. Fisher. The cattle yarded were of superior juality, and nearly every lot changed hands at capital prices. We quote prime beet 28s to 30s per 100 lbs. The sheep yuracil compii-ed uie miest assortment of good quality that has ever passed through a Csnterbury market. We sold 109 cross-bred wethers at 138 9d lor Mr Wm Strachan, Styx; 117 crosskredsatl3s 6d, 78 lambs at 9s 6dfor Mr H. Nunweek, Harewood road; 262 cross-breds at 12s, 12s 3d, to US 6d, lor Mr W. R. Maddison, Selwjn; 212 eross-breds for Mr Wm Henderson at lis 9d: 435 cross-breds for Mr P. Grant at 108 9d to 11b 6d per bead, and 600 do at 9s 6d; 205 cross-breds at 10s 6d for Mr H. White, Lincoln; 121 cross-breds at 12s for Mr'McMillan; 239 cross-breds for Mr S. Garforth at 13s 6d per head; 275 cross-breds at lis 6d for Mr Wm Miles, Selwyn; 214 cross-breds for Mr James Hurse at lis 6d to lis 9d j 177 lambs at 6s 3d, 120 ewes at 8b 9d to 9s per head, 100 ewes at 7b 6d for the Hon J. T. Peacock; 90 merino ewes at 4b for Mr Ward; 131 merino ewes at 6s 6d, 274 crossbred ewes, culls, for Rev J. R. Fisher, at 68 5d per head, and sundry small lines at full rates. Considering the very large quantity of superior quality to hand, the above sales may be considered highly satisfactory. The demand for good cross-bred store sheep Is brisk, with very few in the market. We have sold several small lines during the week at market quotations. Country sales—l. At Mr Donald McKenzie's farm we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock; there was only a moderate attendance of buyers present, but prices realised were good; horses sold at from £lB, £<J5, to £33 per head ; cows to £l3 10s ; fat cattle to £8 10s; pigs, &c, at very full rates. 2. On Monday we held a clearing sale for Mr Isaac Mawson, at Brookside, when there was a very large attendance, and capital prices realised for everything; the bull Alphonso brought 350 guineas, being knocked down to Mr Wm Boag; heiferß and eowß sold well, as also pigs, sheep, and impl ments. 3. On Friday, at Frank's Hotel yards, we held the annual auction of live stock, when we catalogued 128 head of cattle, 1174 sheep, and 20 horses, for Messrs W. Birdling, Hay, Haylock, Bell, Annstrong, Bell and Ensor, Stanbury, Mclntyre, and Scarborough. There was a very large attendance of buyers, and biddings fairly brisk throughout the sale. The following prices were realised:—s2 head of cattle for Mr Birdling at £8 15s to £l2, average £0 per head; 20 head of prime 3-year-old Bieers lor Messrs Hay at £l2 per head; 21 head of store cattle for Mr Armstrong at £6 6a per head; 30 head for Mr Stanbury at £8 2s per head; 204 cross-bred wethers at 14s per head for Mr Birdling; 194 do at 10s 2d; 138 merinos at 5s 9d for Mr C. Haylock ; 115 cross-breds at lis 6d; 35 do at 8s 9d; 200 merino wethers at 4b 8d for Mr Armstrong; 124 cross-breds at 9s 6d for Messrs Bell and Ensor; 164 cross-bred ewes at 7s for Mr James Bell. The horses wera passed in unsold. The sale was a great success, numerous buyers being § resent from the Peninsula and Christchurch. heepskins, Hides, and Tallow.—At our usual weekly auction at Wool Stores, on Thursday, a very large supply came to hand, and capital prices were obtained. Best jcrossbreds brought from 3s 4d, 3s 6d to 4s 9d each; be6t merinos, 2s 4d, 2s 9tl to 3s; boilers' skins, Is 6d, Is lOd, 2s to 2s 7d each, country skins to 3s lid each ; lamb skins, 2s 6d each: salted hides, all round, per lb: fresh, 3*d ; calf, 6Jd ; rough fat to 2sd. In land we sold Mr J. 4. Fountaine's 39 acres, Harewood road, from £2B to £36 per acre and have disposed of numerous town sections at good rates.
