ILMA DE MURSKA’S MARRIAGE.

(Otago Daily Timex, May Iff.)

Early on M onday afternoon a most unexpected event took place iti Dunedin —no less than tlie marriage of Mdlle Hina De Murska (Mrs Anderson) to Mr Strauss Ilia (Mr John Thomas Hill). The ceremony came off in tire office of the Registrar of Marriages, to which the bride and bridegroom quietly walked in their ordinary attire, without anything special in the way of wedding costume; but no sooner had the marriage taken place than the news was in everyone’s mouth. Numbers of persons visited the Registrar’s office during the afternoon, and each disbursed half-a-crown for the pleasure of perusing the following entry in the official record :—“Married, on Monday, May 15bh, at the office of the Registrar of Marriages, by Archibald Reid Ure, Registrar of Marriages, John Thomas Hill, bachelor, aged 33 years, to lima Maria Thea Anderson, widow, aged 28 years. ” The witnesses to the marriage ceremony were Mr William Parker Street and Mr J. R. Sinclair, solicitor. We hear, though for the troth of the story we should not like to vouch, ti>at when Mdlle De Murska made her debvt on the operatic stage in London, in 1805, Mr Hill was a member of the orchestra on that occasion. However, it is certain that Mr Hill only joined the company just before coming over to New Zealand. The eventful story connected with the death, two months agp, of Mr Anderson, and which caused so thrilling a sensation throughout the colonies, found yesterday what was to everyone a most unexpected sequel.
