Fortunator Lockie, recently discharged from the lunatic asylum, attempted to cut his wife’s throat at Oaversham, but was prevented. They were living at the immigration barracks. Lockie was arrested with great difficulty by three constables, he being armed with a large knife, with which he attempted to stab his captors. At the last sittings of the Supreme Court he was admitted to bail on a charge of rape, and it is believed the accusation affected his mind. He has been taken to the asylum again.
