ROAD BOARDS.

AVON, The usual meeting was held on May Bth. Present —Messrs Wilson, Dickenson, and Philpott. The surveyor’s report was read and considered. Letters were read—From Mr Strange, respecting a bridge over the drain by bis gate. The surveyor reported the matter attended to. From Drainage Board, requesting a list of drains in the district. The clerk reported that the list had been supplied. Mr Peacock saw the Board relative to clearing out drains on Church road. The surveyor reported the matter attended to. From Mr Brown, asking the Board to see that the width of footpath on Brown’s road was not encroached upon by live fences, The surveyor was instructed to see to the matter. From the Secretary Public Works, enclosing report from Engineer’s office respecting New Brighton bridge. The clerk was instructed to reply, •&d State that the bridge had been constructed in accordance with drawing as approved by the Provincial Engineer. Tenders were accepted for the following works —Shingling Shirley road ; Aikman’s and Rastrick’s road; Innis road, upper portion; Sawyers’ Arms road. Accounts to the amount of £267 13s 3Jd were passed, and the Board then adjourned.
