Dr King was known as the companion of Admiral Sir George Back in bis journey to the North Pole in 18113 <1 5. wrote several books, some if them on medical subjects, and was a io pi on s contributor to the Hedical Times and the Anthropological Review. A German paper comments on the rapid advances made by Sebastopol since it vas declared a commercial port about twelve months ago. New buildings and boulevards have sprung up as if by magic. It is now the second corn granary in Southern Russia, and the Austrian Lloyd’s has just gained a signal triumph, thanks to the indolence and •oismanagemeut of the Russian shipping and railway companies. It has contracted with the municipality to despatch a Vessel twice a month to foreign ports, and, if the trade increases, to carry on a weekly traffic.
