The aspect of the heavens immediately after sunset is pleasing. Venus, in her greatest northern declination, skirting the north-western horizon, and setting with considerable brilliancy about two hours alter the dim, Mars lias nearly the same right ascension, hut not the same declination by nearly 4dcg, but sets nearly at the same time. Jupiter will rise about the sametime, having nearly 11)deg south declination. The sun is in (lie sign Taurus, and will he until the 20th, when he enters Gemini. The length of day on the Ist will be about lOh 3iu, and on the 15th about Oil 29m. The'phases of ttie moon will be—First quarter, Id Oh 58m i.m. Full moon, 8d 9h24m pm. Last quarter, ltd Oh 58m a m. New moon, 24d 2h 56m am, and again the first quarter, tiod oh 19m p.m. The moon will be farthest from the earth I2d llh p m, and nearest to 25d 61i a.m. Mercury—]od 7h a.rn. will be in greatest heliocentric latitude north 22d Oh a.m ; in greatest elongation 22deg 29m east; and on the2sd 4h p m. in conjunction with the moon—Mercury 3deg 23m south. Venus is an 'evening star. On the od 2h p.m. will be in greatest elongation, 45deg 26m east; and on the 27d 4h in conjunction with the moon—Venus Ideg 43m south. Mars is an evening star. On the 25d 9h p.m. will be in conjunction with the moon—Mars 4deg 2m south.

Jupiter is an evening star, rising soon after sunset, and is visible throughout the night. On the 9d 7h p.m. will be in conjunction ■with the moon Jupiter sdcg 43m north, and on the 18d 5h a.m. in opposition to the sun. Saturn is a morning star, rising a little after Ih a.m, and culminating about Bli a m. On the 17d lOli p in. will bo in conjunction with the moon— Saturn Odeg 13m north, aud on the 29d 7h a.m. in quadrature with the sun.

Uranus—On the (id 4li p.m. will be in quadrature With the sun.

Neptune will be on tho meridian about llh am, having ltdeg of north declination.
