In the Supreme Court, in banco, Mr Justice Williams discharged the rule in Hughes v Shand, holding there was sufficient material evidence corrjhorating plaintiff's proof of promise of marriage to satisfy the statute. Defendant will carry the case to the Court of Appeal. A rule was granted in Bird v National Bank, calling on the plaintiff to show cause why the verdict should not be set aside, or failing that, that execution be stayed on the ground of misdirection by the Judge lima de Murska is suffering from a severe attack of bronchial catarrh. The medical attendant certifies that she will be unable to appear for some days. The result of the Colima commission justifies the action of the pilot and captain not bringing in the Colima, owing to exceptional circumstances on that particular day, viz, a remarkably low tide and very heavy sea, and the ship drawing about 22 feet. Messrs Dredrich, Morgan, and Morrison, who have been missing from Upper Kokotahi since Monday last, have been found by a search party on an island in Hokitika River, twelve miles above Kanieri township. Their boat had struck on a snag, and when they got ashore they were six days almost without food.
