The Holborn Amphitheatre is being turned into a skating rink, and it is rumoured that the Queen's Theatre will shortly undergo similar treatment with the like object in view. The Athenceum says that if half a dozen more of the Metropolitan houses are transformed into rinks “ the number of managers who annually ruin themselves will be reduced, and art will be none the worse for the change.” The Hungarian correspondent of the Times, telegraphing, says “ Deak’s funeral was, beyond all description, grand and imposing There has been nothmg like it since the coronation of Francis Joseph. It was, indeed, Hungary who buried Deak. Unless prevented by illness, everyone was there who has a name or is of account in Hungary in any sphere of life. Every town and county had sent what it had best. His Majesty was represented by his first aide-de-camp ; her Majesty by the steward of her household. Count Andrassy was there. The Austrian Reichsrath was represented by a deputation of both Houses, and by the President of the Lower House, always one of the best friends of Hungary. All the officers of the garrison not on service, and the Honveds, with Arch duke Joseph at their head, formed part of the cortege. Along the three and a half English miles from the Palace of the Academy to the cemetery there was gathered in the streets and at the windows the whole population of the town, besides the thousands who had come in from all parts of the country. The Cardinal Primate of Hungary perfoimed the service. Members of both Houses carried in turns the pall.”
