Auckland, April 17. A thousand people attended the races today, including the Governor and suite. Trial Stakes, one mile and a quarter ; weight for ago. Isaac Walton, 3 yrs, first ; May Moon, 4 yrs, second ; Polly Plum, aged, third. Seven started. May Moon led to within fitly yards of the chair, when Isaac was let out and won easily. Tradesmen’s Plate won by Perfume, Polly Plum second, Label 1 third. Perfume won easily. Hurdle Race, two miles—Perfume, first; Mystery,second; Gladston, third. Deception and Medea also started, Perfume took kindly to the timber, and scored a clever win. Raster Handicap ; a mile and half—lsaac Walton, first ; Bedouin, second ; May Moon, third. Eclipse, Belle, and Deception also started. This was a g- od race, and was won by a half length. Mr Brown, clerk of the course, was thrown from his horse and had a narrow escape. Arrived—Barracouta, from Fiji. Wellington, April 17. To-day was observed as a general holiday. The athletic sports were attended by 2500 people. Sir Julius and Lady Vogel were present. The day was generally observed as a holiday throughout the colony, Dunedin, April 17. lima De Murska has arrived. Upon reaching the railway station the crowd cheered her on landing. She appears on Wednesday. Three thousand attended the Caledonian sports.
