The Hudson Is too well known here to need description, having been here under the command of Captain Trewin last year, whose death we were Tery sorry to hare to record. Her present commander, Captain Colville, lias not visited our port before. Owing to her extreme lightness, the Hudson has had a disagreeable run trom North. Captain Colville reports leaving Napier on the 16th, with light northerly weather, which prevailed till the ship was off the Kaikouras on the 18th. That night the wind changed round to the south-west, and blew with great fury, driving the ship 150 miles to the eastward. On Wednesday last the wind became southerly, and fell light, but owing to the excessively high sea had to run to the northward before it. On Friday made Cape Pallisei-, the wind then blowing strong from the south-west. That night it charged .: md to the north-west, and blew fresh. On SaHi 3cv, towards midnight, it tell light, and became more easterly. Since then had light north-east winds to arrival.
