Dunedin, March 11. Cricket —The Fifteen, who when play commenced to-day had six wickets down for 84 runs, were put out by the Interprovincial Eleven for 101 runs. The Eleven had nine to get to win, which they did without losing a wicket. Wilson, of the circus, and Harry Prince, bookmaker, were thrown out of a buggy today, and both much shaken. It was a narrow escape. They were returning from a foot race between Davis and Park. This event—lso yards—was won by Davis by three yards. Blondin appeared this afternoon. About 2500 were present in the monster canvas arena. He went through his performances capitally, his tricks on the chair and bicycle riding being the most applaused. He had an enthusiastic reception. There was a large attendance at the swimming tournament, and an extraordinary number of competitors, Mr Finlaysou won
the most important event, the All-comers race. Some of the boys swam very well.
The town council of Riverton are about to memorialise the Minister for Public Works, praying for the intervention of the Colonial Government respecting the abuses connected with the constructiou of public works in the Southland district by the Provincial Government of Otago. Grand total, £130,000. Dunedin, March 13. When the s.s. Coomerang was leaving Rattray street Wharf at midnight, on Saturday, part of the boiler gave way. One man and two circus horses were scalded.
