Some samples of scribbed wool recently exhibited at Dewsbury by Mr G. Rydell, and valued at 10W, Is Oid, Is 3d, and 4s 8d per lb, were stated to have been produced from rags bought at under Old per lb. At the works of the Great Western Railway Company in Wolverhampton the directors are having engines specially constructed to run the journey between London and the Land’s-end in less time by an hour that the distance is now being done, so that the rate of speed will be seventy miles an hour. Their present trains to the West of England are the quickest in the world, but this new arrangement eclipses all known practical modes of locomotion.
