AQUATICS.

HEATHCOTB REGATTA, 1876. The following events took place after we went to press yesterday : Junior Pairs, and cox, under twenty; one and a half miles. Entrance, 10s. Prize—cups or medals. Sylph (La Nauze and Fooks) 1 Heathcote (Nankervill and Bull) .. 0 Sabrina, U.R.C 0 The three got well away together, the Heathcote crew being the first to show in front, the Sylph lying second, the Union crew being outpaced in the first half mile. At the turn off the Fisherman’s hut the superiority of the Sylph became manifest, and the crew settling down into a steady stroke, she went to the front, increased her lead, and won easily by four lengths. Junior Pairs and cox, under 20 ; one and a half mile ; entrance, 10s. Prize—Cups or Medals. Illyssus, C.R.C 1 Cam, Cure R.O ... 2 Sylph, U.R.C. ... 3 Heathcote, H.R.C 4 The Kaiapoi boat got away first with the lead, the Sylph fouling the Illyssus at the start. Ultimately the Illyssus got a lead, and came away a winner by several lengths. Sailing race. Prize, £lO. Emma (J. Day) I Gafr Mynydd (Roberts) 2 There were six entries. This was a pretty race between the first three, Roberts’ boat pressing the Emma hard all through. The latter took the lead from the start, closely followed by the boats of Messrs Moack and Roberts. In the running before the wind the Emma had all the best of it, but in beating home Mr Robert’s boat was at one time exceedingly dangerous. The Emma was too strong for her opponents, and won. The first three boats were well handled throughout. Rob Roy Canoe race. One mile. Rip Rap—(Jones ' 1 ( Peep o’ Day—(Bowron) 2 Scud —(Sweet) 3 Peri—(Ollivier) ... 4 Jones went away with the lead, which he maintained to the finish, Bowron being in close attendance. Double Sculls with cox. One and a half miles, Tui, Cure, R.C 1 Una, H.R.C. 2 Moa, C.R.C ... 3 This was an easy win for the Tui.
