The Phoebe, s.s, sailed at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. Tho Queen of the South hauled out from the screw pile jetty, and sailed last night for Newcastle. * The fore-and-aft schooner Kaikoura, Anderson, master, arrived in harbor yesterday from Havelock, Jessie sailed yesterday for Picton for a cargo of timber for this port. The s.s Tui, for Wellington via Kaikoura. sailed ,C The Circe arrived in harbor yesterday morning from Hokitika with a cargo of Walhopai was berthed alongside the Tunnel wharf yesterday, and commenced to Blackwood’s s.s. Alhambra, Captain Bawden. left Sandrldge at 2.30 p.m. on the ■3rd; cleared the Heads at 6p.m.; experienced W. and N.W. winds and fine weather. Arrived off Hokitika at 1.30 a.m.on the 29th; leftat S p.m.; arrived off Greymouth at 6 p.m ; left at 2.30 p.m on the let; arrived at Nelson at 7.30 a.m. on the 2nd s left at 1 a.m. on the 3rd; arrived at Wellington at 2.43 pm. same day; lett at noon on the sth,‘and arrived at Lyttelton at 1 a.m. yesterday. She brought about 10 tons of cargo for this port, and sailed for Melbourne via South. _ . „ . The Spray reports leaving Picton on March 3rd at 10 a.m., with a fresh N.W. Wind, and clearing Tory Channel at 3 p.m.; passed a barque bound North at 4 p.m, and signalled the brig Fawn bound through the Straits. March 4th, at Ip.m, passed Cape Campbell with fresh easterly winds, and signalled the Elibank Castle, bound North. On the ith had moderate easterly winds, and at * a.m. passed the Kaikouras Peninsula. Made the Heads yesterday and got inside at 2 p.m, anchoring in Samplers Bay at 3 p.m. _ , _ „ ~ The brig Emperor, Capt Cleary, left Newcastle Feb 84th, with moderate northerly weather veering to tiie eastward till the Ist, when were obliged to heave to, having a black northeaster for twenty hours, when the weather moderated. Made Cape Farewell Spit Light Thursday, 2nd, at midnight; through Straits -strong N.W. wind to Cape Campbell s strong south-easter off Cape Campbell for ■lx hours, and variable winds to arrival in port at 9 a.m. yesterday, all well. The Emperor has made an excellent trip this time, having been absent only thirty days. She met with very quick despatch at Newcastle, having her ballast out and being loaded in thirty-six hours after arrival there. She brings 500 tons coal. Messrs Dalgety, Ducroz and Co. writing to the firm here, on January 12th, say:—“ The Cora Linn, with wheat from your port, capsized this morning off Hull.” This intelligence was forwarded to us by the Press Agency as an item of cable news.
ENGLISH SHIPPING. The ship Countess of Kintore, Capt Braddick, •nd barque Thomas S. Stowe, from this port, arrived at Gravesend on Dec 16th; The Inverdrule left Gravesend Jan 4th, and Eassed Portland Jan 6th. The Euterpe passed teal Dec 17th, and arrived at Plymouth Dec Slat.
