MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, February 19. (Before Dr Back, J.P.) Drunk and Disorderly.—The following cases were dealt with : Margaret Jackson fined 5s ; John Blyth, also charged with resisting the police in the execution of their duty was fined 10s ; Samuel James O’Hara, alias Robert Brew, was fined 20s; and Thomas Richards was fined 20s. (Before W. H. Pilliett, Esq, and Dr Back, J.Ps.) Larceny from a Shop.— George Grey was charged with this offence. It appeared that the prisoner had been arrested for drunkenness; on being taken to the watchhouse a German sausage was found upon him, which he had taken from Mr Mein’s shop in Colombo street. The prisoner in his defence said that he took the sausage from a dog in the street. The Bench sentenced the prisoner to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
