MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday, December 21. [Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., S. M.] Drunk and Disorderly. Margaret Guerrin, an old offender, was fined 20s, or 48 hours; John M‘Donald was fined ss, and Hugh Montgomery in a similar amount. Bigamy. —Edward Arthur Upjohn was brought up on warrant charged with this offence. Inspector Feast produced copy of certificates of the marriage of accused in Dunedin in 1868, and in Christchurch in 1874. The whole of the evidence was not ready, and he would ask for a remand for eight days. Remand granted as asked. Larceny as a Bailee. —Edward M'Kenna was charged on warrant with selling a horse, the property of Thos. Fraser, of Wairoa, and appropriating the money to his own use. Inspector Buckley said the offence had been committed in the Nelson Province, and as the evidence was not all ready, he would ask for a remand. Remanded for eight days. (Before W. B. Tosswill. Esq, J,P.) Larceny. —Charles Sydney Pocock was brought up charged with stealing some wearing apparel and a watch chain from a house in Colombo street. The accused had been arrested during the morning, and on the application of Inspector Feast was remanded until Wednesday.
