U.C.C.C. V. PAPANUI.

A very interesting match between these two clubs was finished on Saturday last. The Papanui in their first innings made 50; but in their second W. Horner made a good stand, and was not disposed of until he had obtained 30 runs by steady play. Triggs, Matson, and Hewitt also obtained double figures, and the innings closed for 80. The U.O.C.C. made 86 in their first innings, and had thus 45 runs to get to win. This appeared an easy task, but the bowling of Matson and J. Horner was too good until the rain commenced, when it fell off. H. Cotterill and Deacon at last made a stand, and won the match, which at one time seemed hopeless, by steady play. The following are the totals:— Papanui, first innings, 50 ; second innings, 80 ; total, 130. U.C.C.C., first innings, 86 ; second innings, with two wickets to fall, 46 ; total, 132. C.C.C. v. COLLEGE. This match was finished on Saturday last, and proved very exciting towards the close. The C.C.C. in their first innings made 61, as added up in the score book, but the total is only 60 to their opponents 66, and in the second innings they scored 74, thus leaving the college 70 runs to get to win the match. The first three wickets of the College's second innings fell quickly, but R. and V. Hamilton made a good stand, and were not disposed of until the score stood at 55, but the rest did not sustain this good example, and the C.C.C. won by one run ; but in consequence of the error alluded to above the match is a tie. The following are the totals :—C.C.C.— Ist innings, 60 ; 2nd innings, 74. Total, 134. College—lst innings, 66 ; 2nd innings, 68. Total, 134.
