The Customs revenue collected on Friday was as follows; — C s. il. Wheat continues in good demand for milling purposes, and prime samples are readily bought up. Only the primest milling oats are inquired lor; for feed quality there ilttle or no demand, and sales are difficult to effect. Barley remains quite unsaleable. Flour is in good demand, and a fair export business is being done. We have little alteration to report in dairy produce. Butter is ottering treely, but as there is a good demand from outside markets, prices continue firm. Cheese fit for use or shipment is scarce, and commands lair prices. Hams and bacon are more inquired for for Christmas use, and a better export trade has been done in consequence of this and of easier prices. Buyers’quotations are:—Prime milling wheat, 4s to 4s Id ; do oats, 2s 3d; flour, £loin sacks ; £lO 17s «d, in 1001 b hags; £ll ssin'solb bags; bran, Is ; sharps, 1s Id; butter 8d ; cheese, 8d ; hams and bacon, in cloth, lid. A fair trade has been done in the import markets during the past week, and business generally has ■howu signs of improvement. The arrivals from London have been Queen Bee, Waitangi, and Langstone, on the 6th, 7th, and 10t.li inst, all bringing full and valuable cargoes of general merchandise. (Sugars—A fair amount of business has been done in this line; several large (rade sales have been made at £32 lbs to £34 tor white crystals, and £32 10s for finest yellow crystals; yellow counters have been disposed of at £2O 10s to £.30 i.b. Considerable sales have taken place in teas at Js fld to Is led i.b Blood’s Stout —A large parcel just arrived has been taken up at 11- 3d ; trade sales have taken place in this ami other best brands at 11s od to 12s per dozen. Bottled ales hang on importers’ hands; we have no large sales to report. I’obaccos —A moderate trade has been done in twi-t tob.ie-oes at i* s;d to is od. A parcel of Venus lo’s has been placed at Is Sd. Nailrod tobacco is coming into favor here; several sales have been eflected at, is 84d to is (id. Spirits—We have nothing beyond usual good trade sales to report at cm rent rates- Currants arc offering freely at-Ifd ; stocks are now ample for some time to come. Caudles meet with moderate attention at lu’d to lid. Cement—Parcels now in port have been sold at 21s delivered in Christchurch. Galvanized Iron—We hear of a few small lots of orb brand taken up at £34 ; the market at present is rather quiet. Fencing wire has been offered at 20s lOd, and 2!s lOd for No 6 and 8. We have not heard of sales eflected at these figures.
