Captain Worster, who is to take charge of the ship Waikato, arrived from Dunedin in the s. s "Wellington yesterday. The Waikato has now on board 2038 bales wool, 126 casks tallow, and 360 tons wheat and flour, and some 400 bales are in store for her. There is little doubt site will be tilled up in a week’s lime. The discharge of the Duke of Edinburgh is being pushed on rapidly. During the past two days she has put out 360 tons cargo, and will be clear of all but railway iron early next week. TheMerope has on board, besides her wheat and some tallow, 723 bales of wool. The brigantine Circe, from Hokitika, and the brigantine Sarah and Mary, from Greyraouth, have sailed with cargoes of timber for this port. We notice by telegram the arrival of the M. A. Annison at Newcastle, alter a lengthy passage of twenty-nine days. The barque Hopeful, Captain Luly, is twelve days out irom Newcastle to-day. Owing to the westerly wind quite a fleet of Vessels sailed yesterday. The barques Witch of the "Wave and Island City went in the morning, and in the evening the Albion and John Kendall, brigs, and Ethel, brigantine. The s.s. Beautiful Star, Captain Pieterson, arrived in harbor yesterday, at 11 a.ra, from Dunedin, via Timaru. She left Dunedin at 6 p.m. on the Ist instant; arrived Timaru 9 a.ra, 2nd; left at 5.30 p.m; experienced light airs and thick weather throughout the passage, arriving as above. She sails on hei return trip at 11 a.m. to-day. The Hopeful left Newcastle lor this port on the 25th. The barque Melrose, from Newcastle, with 450 tons of coal, arrived last evening, and was heating up the harbor when our express loft. She sailed from Newcastle on the 15th. The s.s. Wellington. Captain Carey, arrived in harbor at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. Left Port Chalmers at 4 p.m, on Thursday, thus doing the trip in eighteen and a half hours. She brought about 30 tons of cargo for this port, and took on board about 40 tons lor North, sailing at 1 p.m. yesterday.
