CHRISTCHTJRCH. Monday, November 29. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq. KM.) Drunk and Disorderly.— The following inebriates were dealt with: William Bampton, fined 5s ; Thomas Taylor, ss; Henry March, ss; Mary Brighting did not appear to answer to her bail when called. The husband of accused was present, and said his wife was unwell. His Worship adjourned the case until Tuecday. Lunacy f iom Drink.—William Carey, who had been brought dowu from the Bakaia on this charge, was remanded until to-morrow for medical examination. LYTTELTON. Saturday. November 27. (Before W. Donald. Esq. R.M.) Threatening Language.—James Wheatiey was charged by Thomas Bilby with using threatening language. Complainant stated he and defendant had degreed over some money matters ; defendant came to his house and threatened to blow his brains out, and that he was in bodily fear. The Bench ordered the defeudant to be bound over to keep ihe peace, himself in £2O and two sureties of £lO each. Mr Nalder appeared for defendant. CIVIL <'ASE.—H Hawkins v Captain Lne.ko«; claim £46 16s, for short delivery of iron. Mr H. N, Naider appeared for the defend int. From the plaintiff's case, it ap peared that he had not received all the iron specified in his bill of ladin~, but that a qurntity of iron had been landed without marks, which had been delivered by the railway to other consignees in excess of their quantity. The defendant proved that he had delivered all the iron under his bills of lading to the lighter?, and it was argued that lie was not respoi 3ible for the iron after it was delivered to consigii'-es' agents, or for the subsequent misdelivery of it by the railway. Judgment was gi/en for the defendant.
